From Hobby to Hustle : Growing Your Reselling Business Online

🌟 From Hobby to Hustle 🌟

  Growing Your Reselling Business Online

Hi, friends! If you’re dreaming of turning your reselling hobby into a thriving online business, let me show you how I’ve been growing We Bee Reselling—and loving every minute of it! ✨

🌼 Social Media: Your Secret Weapon

Social media isn’t just for selfies (though, hey, no judgment!). It’s a powerhouse for showcasing your business.

💡 Here’s what works for me:

📸 Create Engaging Content: I share thrift hauls, styling tips, and fun peeks into my inventory. Blogs? I’ve started one! (You should too!)

📅 Stay Consistent: Using a to-do list app keeps me on track. I aim to list 5 items daily and cross-list 10 on non-workdays.

🤝 Build Relationships: I reply to every DM and comment. People love to shop for someone they trust and believe they are there for them. Nobody wants to shop from an account where the seller has not been active within the last 24hrs.

🔧 Automation is Your BFF

Running a business while staying sane? Automation tools make it happen.

✨ What I use:

Flyp: This handles cross-listing, pricing, and more. It’s my time-saving superhero. 🦸‍♀️

Pirate Ship: Discounted shipping rates that help both me and my buyers save money. Win-win! 💌

Later/Buffer: These tools let me schedule Instagram posts ahead of time, so my account stays active, even on busy days.

🌍 Cross-Listing: The Key to Visibility

Why limit yourself to one platform when there’s a whole world of buyers out there? 🌟

🚀 Where I list:

Poshmark: For trendy and affordable styles.

eBay: For high-value treasures.

Depop & Mercari: Niche audiences love unique finds here.

On my non-workdays, I post 5 items and cross-list 10 items to maximize exposure. Sales skyrocket when buyers can find you everywhere! 🌟

📊 Learn From Your Data

If you don’t track it, you can’t improve it. That’s why my spreadsheet is my business bestie.

📝 What I track:

Items that sell fast vs. what sits 🛋️

When I’ve overspent on sourcing (oops!) 💸

Shipping costs I can trim 🚛

Which platforms give the best results.

Learning from my own numbers has helped me stop guessing and start making smarter decisions. 🎯

💛 Building Loyal Buyers

Your customers aren’t just numbers—they’re your community!

✨ How I connect:

Incentives: Bundle discounts, weekly sales, and handwritten thank-you notes keep buyers coming back.

Transparency: Clear, honest descriptions build trust.

Extras: My blog shares secondhand shopping tips and eco-friendly inspiration! 🌿

🎉 My Journey From Hobby to Hustle Running We Bee Reselling has been a joy! By focusing on consistency, leveraging tools like Flyp, and learning from my data, I’ve turned my love for thrifting into a business that makes me proud.

Your reselling dreams are 100% doable. With strategy, effort, and a little creativity, your hobby can grow into something extraordinary! Let’s make it happen together.

Reselling Beyond Clothing: Unlocking the Potential of Everyday Items

Reselling Beyond Clothing: Unlocking the Potential of Everyday Items

When people think of reselling, clothing often comes to mind. But did you know almost anything can be resold? From household goods to vintage electronics, the secondhand market is thriving for a wide range of items. Here’s how to tap into this market and the best platforms for each category.

What Can You Resell?

The possibilities are endless! Here are some of the most sought-after categories:

  • Electronics: Smartphones, laptops, vintage gaming consoles, and accessories. Many buyers look for affordable tech alternatives or collectible models.
  • Books: Textbooks, rare editions, cookbooks, and even children’s books can find new homes.
  • Home Decor: Wall art, rugs, vintage lamps, and small furniture pieces are in demand, especially if they’re unique.
  • Kitchenware: Cast iron pans, vintage Pyrex, and high-end appliances often fetch good prices.
  • Toys and Games: Classic board games, collectible action figures, and retro toys can be a goldmine.
  • Sports Equipment: Bikes, golf clubs, fitness gear, and outdoor sports items are popular among budget-conscious buyers.
  • Collectibles: Coins, stamps, trading cards, Funko Pops, and memorabilia attract passionate niche audiences.

Pro Tip: Items in good condition that meet a specific need or trend are more likely to sell quickly.

Where to Sell? Choosing the Right Platform

Each platform caters to specific audiences and item types. Here’s a breakdown:

1. eBay

Best for: Electronics, collectibles, and rare finds.
Why: eBay has a global reach and attracts buyers looking for unique items. Features like auctions and “Buy It Now” allow sellers flexibility.

2. Facebook Marketplace

Best for: Bulky items like furniture, sports equipment, and local pickups.
Why: It’s easy to connect with buyers in your area, avoiding shipping hassles.

3. Poshmark

Best for: Home decor and smaller lifestyle items.
Why: Though known for clothing, Poshmark’s growing home section is ideal for curated decor and accessories.

4. Amazon

Best for: Books, electronics, and new or lightly used items.
Why: To sell on Amazon, you’ll typically need to become a dropshipper or Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) seller. This means sourcing inventory upfront or working with suppliers to ship directly to customers. While it requires more initial setup, the platform’s vast audience can lead to significant sales.

5. Mercari

Best for: Toys, games, and small household goods.
Why: Mercari is beginner-friendly and lets sellers reach a wide audience with minimal effort.

6. Instagram

Best for: Curated and visually appealing items like home decor, collectibles, and fashion.
Why: You can build a niche audience and engage directly with potential buyers through posts, Stories, and live sales.

7. Specialized Platforms

  • Decluttr: Ideal for tech items like phones, CDs, and video games.
  • Chairish: Perfect for vintage or high-end furniture and home decor.
  • Reverb: Focuses on musical instruments and equipment.
  • Whatnot: A live-streaming marketplace for selling collectibles like trading cards, action figures, and more.
  • Depop: Great for trendy, vintage, or upcycled fashion items. Depop caters to a younger, style-conscious audience.
  • Etsy: Best for handmade goods, vintage items (20+ years old), and unique decor. Etsy allows sellers to build a brand within a curated marketplace.

How to Maximize Your Sales

  • Research trends: Items like retro gaming consoles or mid-century furniture are perennially popular.
  • Bundle similar items: Offering sets can increase the perceived value and simplify shipping.
  • Provide accurate descriptions: Highlight brand names, dimensions, conditions, and unique features.

Final Thoughts

Reselling is about more than just clearing out your closet—it’s a chance to give new life to items you no longer need and earn some extra cash. Whether it’s a vintage vase, collectible toys, or last year’s smartphone, there’s a buyer out there for almost everything.

Reseller Hacks: How to Sell on eBay, Instagram, and Poshmark Like a Pro

Reseller Hacks: How to Sell on eBay, Instagram, and Poshmark Like a Pro

Reselling can be a rewarding way to make extra income, but success requires strategy. Whether you’re flipping thrifted finds or clearing out your closet, mastering platforms like eBay, Instagram, and Poshmark is essential. Here are the top reseller hacks to help you sell like a pro.

1. Optimize Your Photos and Descriptions

The first thing buyers notice is your photos, so make them count! Use natural light, clean backgrounds, and multiple angles to showcase your items. Highlight details like labels, textures, and any unique features.

When writing descriptions, think like a buyer. Include:

Brand and item type

Size and measurements

Condition (e.g., “like new” or “gently used”)

Special features (e.g., vintage, limited edition, or sustainable material)

A clear, accurate description builds trust and can lead to faster sales.

2. Post Listings at the Right Time

Timing can make a huge difference in visibility.

eBay: Listings that end on Sunday evenings often perform best, as buyers are more active at the start of the week.

Instagram: Post when your audience is most active, typically in the evening or during lunch breaks.

Poshmark: Share your listings during peak shopping hours—morning, lunchtime, and evenings.
Share to current parties, and check their blog to see what parties are next.

Consistency is key, so maintain a regular posting and sharing schedule to stay visible.

3. Use the Platforms’ Features to Your Advantage

Each platform offers tools to help boost sales:

eBay: Take advantage of auctions for rare or in-demand items. Use "Buy It Now" for fixed-price sales.

Instagram: Leverage Stories, Reels, and hashtags to engage your audience. Host live sales to interact with potential buyers directly.

Poshmark: Share other sellers’ listings to gain visibility and participate in Poshmark parties to promote your items.

These features aren’t just extras—they’re opportunities to stand out.

4. Organize Your Inventory and Shipping

Efficiency is crucial when selling multiple items. Keep your inventory organized by categories like size, season, or brand. Have a dedicated space for storing items in a clean, dry area.

Here is the link to my favorite Google sheets for maintaining inventory-

Prepare for shipping by stocking up on  essentials like:

Poly mailers or boxes-
If you ship with USPS Priority, you can receive free boxes and envelopes on the USPS website.

Packing tape and labels-
For my labels I use the rollo printer, I have a general plug in one, it was much cheaper and more reliable then the wifi rollo printer.

Thank-you notes for a personal touch-
I use personal thank cards off of Amazon. And add a sticker to my package.

Offering fast, reliable shipping can earn you glowing reviews and repeat customers -
I always try to keep a max of two days or less when shipping items.

5. Build Relationships with Your Buyers

Customer service is just as important as your product. Respond to questions promptly and professionally, and always be transparent about an item’s condition.

On platforms like Instagram, engaging with your audience through comments, DMs, and live sales can help build a loyal customer base.
